Responding to Pro-Choice Arguments

Source: Ascension Presents on YouTube

Jackie Angel shares how you can respond to pro-choice arguments in a compassionate way. In short, every human being has the right to live, and we are human beings from conception. But there is a lot more logic that goes into being pro-life than that.

From the onset, it’s important to be compassionate toward those who have had an abortion, because 73.8 percent of women were pressured into getting one, often by loved ones.

Once we establish that compassionate connection with someone who is pro-abortion, it helps to keep in mind these responses to the most popular pro-abortion arguments:

Argument: “It’s my body, my choice.”

Response: At the moment of conception, the new life in the womb has his or her own chromosomes, DNA, and everything necessary for God to form a new body. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” Argument: “What about rape?”

Response: Rapists should be punished to the full extent of the law, but to abort the baby conceived through rape is to perform another act of violence. The child conceived in rape is no less of a human person. The same goes for those who are born in poverty, or are adopted. They are all human beings with the same human dignity.

Argument: “Pro-lifers don’t care about babies after they’re born. They’re just pro-birth.”

Response: A huge majority of those who adopt children are Christians. The Church helps the poor more than any other organization on earth. Crisis pregnancy centers are almost exclusively supported by Christian organizations. Visit siststersoflife.org to see how much just this one pro-life community does for at-risk children after they’re born.

Argument: “It’s just a clump of cells.”

Response: Then so are you and I. When a baby is wanted there is so much excitement, but when it’s unwanted we call it something insignificant. Whether they’re wanted or not, the baby has the same worth. Similarly, if the embryo’s dependency on the mother is supposed to determine whether she has the right to take its life, consider that most children are dependent on their parents for years after they’re born.

Argument: If we don’t permit legal abortion, women are more likely to perform unsafe “back-alley abortions”.

Response: All abortions are unsafe. Visit abortionprocedures.com to find out what really happens in the procedure.
