Media Job: Part-time Broadcasting Editing Job/Training [Complete]
The following request is from Ivor Hyland, video production director, and post-production editor, who is looking to employ someone on a ‘casual’ basis to post-produce work for a national broadcaster. Training will be provided. Please see below for full details. [Update: 9th June 2015 – applications are now closed]
I am at a stage now where I need to concentrate more on production and generating work and therefore I need assistance with some of the editing work which takes up a lot of my time.
Therefore it presents an opportunity for someone to gain experience and training under my supervision. I am looking for someone who has a genuine interest in Editing, has an appetite to learn more and is looking for invaluable hands on experience in taking a programme from ingest stage to delivery to a broadcaster.
In this instance the broadcaster is RTE. Each month I produce a programme which is essentially a 30 minute presenter led commercial which airs every morning on RTE 1 Initially I will be looking for help on this job, but as the business expands there will be other opportunities.
This would be a casual arrangement at first but with the right person it has the potential to develop into something more formal. Ideally after time – the right candidate would end up being someone in whom I could entrust to edit independently on this programme and other jobs.Availability for between 3-5 days a month (usually falling towards the end of each month.)
- Knowledge of FCP 7 primarily, but Premiere / Avid an advantage also
- Knowledge of Photoshop and to a lesser extent After Effects
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Someone who keeps up to date with latest technologies, compressions, codecs, file types etc.
- Good communication and administration skills
