X-Project: Conference Video
Background Climate change, sea-level rise, ice-ages, human evolution, the migration of peoples, cultures, plants and animals, and the formation of the landscape and habitats of today are all incorporated in the term ‘The Quaternary.’ The Quaternary is a geological period which began 2.6 million years ago, is the one in which we currently live, and is characterised by ice-ages interspersed with warmer periods.
The Irish Quaternary Association (IQUA) would like to record aspects of talks from its annual symposium. This year the symposium is on “Ireland’s Offshore Quaternary Records” and nine speakers will present work (20-30min each) ranging from climatic changes to ice streams. Further information can be found at our website: www.iqua.ie
Brief: IQUA would like someone to record, edit and format a video of up to 5min that could be placed on its website ( http://www.iqua.ie ) and used for promotional purposes. It would serve as an overview of the Quaternary research being conducted in Ireland, and include mini interviews with delegates/speakers to appeal to a general audience. We would welcome input on the best ways of achieving this.
Deadlines: Please register your interest in this project by Friday 9th November. The IQUA symposium is all day on Friday 23 rd November 2018 in the Geological Survey Ireland (Dublin 4). We would want the finalised video by the end of January 2019
What’s in it for you: We can provide €200 for the completed video and would be happy to write references about your work. IQUA is also hosting a large conference (3000 delegates) in 2019: if this trial is successful, other promotional activities may occur.
