God and Mathematics
Why does mathematics work? Think about it… Mathematical entities like numbers, sets, and equations are non-physical and abstract. They can’t cause anything. Yet, for some reason, the physical universe operates…mathematically.
Trust in Times of Trial
When times are bad, there is a great tendency to absorb into our own hearts and minds the negativity and anger and sadness that surround us. This is especially true when persons with these traits project their mean-spiritedness and fear on those near them. It can be very hard for a morally sensitive person not to feel in some strange way responsible for the state of things.
Chill! God’s in Charge!
In this short video, Fr. Mark Goring quotes from Proverbs Chapter 3:5 – ‘Trust in the Lord, with all your heart, and do not rely on your own intelligence”. We are not to cling to our own desires, insights or ways of doing or wanting things done. The Lord will do things in his own mysterious way. So, ‘chill, God is in charge’.
Bishop Barron on Canceling Padre Serra
Friends, the entire effort to erase the memory of St. Junípero Serra is from a historical standpoint ridiculous and from a moral standpoint more than a little frightening. How to Discern Pretty Much Anything
How to discern God’s will is one of Fr. Mark-Mary’s favorite topics. He has some principles he uses to guide his discernment. He narrows these principles down to four: needs, responsibilities, desires, and capacities.

Bishop Barron on King, Aquinas, and our Nation’s Future
Friends, the political nests within the moral, which nests within the sacred. We know that there are social wrongs which need to be made right, but our civic engagement must have a spiritual and moral center, grounded in the ideas of Martin Luther King Jr. and Thomas Aquinas.
Those Who are Just Must be Kind
Source: Bishop Robert Barron via YouTube Those Who are Just Must be Kind — Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermon Friends, though it was considered foolishness to the world, the Lord revealed his all-embracing power in the outstretched arms of the crucified Christ. Though this act, God offered to us all the […]
The Brown Scapular a Share in Our Lady’s Habit
St. John of the Cross writes, “Whenever God bestows favours he clothes them with … love” (Ascent bk II, ch 29.11). Love draws the beloved. Love attracts and seeks union. Our Lord draws those wearing the Scapular of Our Lady up the mountain to be His beloved disciples. Let’s take our Brown Scapular’s seriously, seeking always to wear them as an extension of Our Lady’s very own clothing… thus marking us out, defining us as her beloved children… called to stand with her at the foot of the cross on Mt. Calvary.
