This objective requires that in each of its areas of work, the safeguarding of three fundamental dimensions be sought. In the first place, the demands of the artistic dimension of sacred music, with its canons and spaces of originality. Likewise, the contemplative and apostolic character that all work of a sacred nature requires. And, finally, trust, availability and dedication to the renewing action of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Walks on Water

When Jesus walks on water, it is possibly the most famous of all of Jesus’ miracles. However, this theophany of Jesus walking on the water is often dismissed by some skeptics as Jesus walking on a sand bar. Moreover, often overlooked, is the way that Jesus responds to the disciples when Jesus walks on the water. What do Jesus’ words mean in the context of him walking on the water? And, also, what do Jesus’ words mean in the context of how they begin worshiping Jesus when he gets into the boat after?

“Let me state this in the clearest possible terms: the problem of drug use is not solved with drugs. Attempts to legalize so-called recreational drugs are not only highly questionable from a legislative standpoint, but they fail to produce the desired affects. Here I would affirm what I stated on another occasion: no to every type of drug use. It’s as simple as that.”

Saint David was a Welsh bishop of Mynyw (now St David’s) during the 6th century. He is the patron saint of Wales. He is traditionally believed to be the son of Saint Non and the grandson of Ceredig ap Cunedda, king of Ceredigion. The Welsh annals placed his death 569 years after the birth of Christ, but Phillimore’s dating revised this to 601.

Confession: Sins are Forgiven & Forgotten

Fr. Mark Goring discusses the joy, forgiveness, lack of fear and love, that a person can experience after having their confession heard. He recounts Jesus’ command to his apostles to forgive sins, and once forgiven, they are forgotten by God. Scripture says “..your sins I will remember no more” [Hebrews 8:12]. St. Paul says in Philippians ‘..forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal’ [Philippians 3:13-14]. God wants us to forget our sins and move on with life, towards our ultimate goal – union with him.

So, it might be true to say that traditional gender roles are societal conventions, but what’s being left out of that is that they are conventions that are an attempt, admittedly imperfect, to reflect objective, biological, and maybe even, spiritual, realities.
