The recognition that ‘dark thoughts’ and ‘evil impulses’ that might pass through our minds, are really not from us, they are from the Evil One. Satan wants us to think that these dark thoughts are from us. So, when these thoughts come into our minds, it is important to recognise them as such, and reject them. It is not a sin because our will is not engaged. So, we pray to rebuke, reject and renounce them and all the evil spirits.
